Have you ever parked your car on street parking spot? If your answer is yes, you know that the street parking is very convenient. These days, city of Champaign is promoting “green and white” policy. The policy is that sidewalk makes to be widely by getting rid of space of street parking and encourage using transportation. Decreasing a street parking spot has good and bad effects to student and others. The good things are about viewing and environment, while bad things are about parking problem and discomfort for students.
First of all, there are two elements that will be enhanced by this policy. At first, the campus will have a better view because lots of parking cars will banish on the street. Actually, the parking cars on the street don’t help to make beautiful campus. So, students want to walk around the campus because there are lots of beautiful streets on the campus. Another advantage is that we can prevent air pollution. Actually many students use their cars to go to class, and they park their cars on the street parking spot that is around classroom. After finishing construction that gets rid of street parking spot, many people have to take a bus and walk in order to go to class. As a result, many students cannot use their car, and we can prevent air pollution. Moreover, we can save a fuel thanks to this policy. Therefore, making beautiful campus and preventing air pollution are good effects.
Second, there are two bad effects by policy. At first, the parking problem will increase because the parking spot is decreased. The campus already has a big parking problem. For example, when I drove to class, I couldn’t find parking spot. So, I had to drive same way again and again to find the spot. Moreover, I spent lots of time to find spot, so I was late. After finishing construction, this problem will be worsening. Another problem is that students will feel uncomfortable. Once they have to park their cars on the parking lot that is far from their classroom when they takes own car to go class. After that, they have to choose taking a bus or walk. As a result, they will feel uncomfortable. Therefore, increasing parking problem and feeling uncomfortable are bad effects.
To sum up, the new policy of Champaign will bring two different results: good or bad. Actually, I think that this policy is good for both students and campus because we will be adapted to bad thing.

Why do the car company makes super car?

Have you ever seen fancy car on the road? Today, many car companies are making a super car that has a high technology and best performance such as AUDI R8, Nissan GTR, and Lamborghini. Also, the car's price is minimum ten thousands. Many people has a dream to drive and make the car as own car. However, car companies aren't selling lots of super cars now because the price is too high. Why do the car companies want to make and show super car? There are two specific reasons. The reasons are marketing and pride.

First of all, most car companies produce car that has a high technology to use for marketing. Producing supercar is very useful method to inform consumers their ability. Moreover, consumers have a confidence to the company, so when they need a new car, they will choose the company’s car although they cannot buy a supercar. Consumers think that the company has a better technology than other companies that cannot make a supercar. As a result, they expect better quality to lower level car. For example, Nissan, Japanese Car Company, didn’t have supercar few years ago. At that time, they had a problem to sell their cars because their technology is insufficient to compete with other companies. They determined to focus on producing a car that has all technology as good as possible. As a result, they launched their supercar, so many people interested their supercar and company. Thanks to launching show, their sales are increased. Therefore, making a supercar helps companies to increase sales.

Second, car companies think that supercar is same with their pride. Whenever new supercar is launched, it is compared every parts and performance with others on the media such as television show and magazine. Almost car companies are very sensitive to compare because of their pride. Especially, the car companies are sharper comparing engine. The reason is that engine is like a heart. For example, when one company made a supercar, they emphasized how fast the car goes 0 to 60mph. It is like a criterion to compare an engine. So, many car companies invest lots of money to develop their technology for making a better engine. Therefore, producing a high tech car is important to keep their pride.

To sum up, most car companies has a dream to make a better supercar than others because of marketing and pride. Lots of major car companies want to beat others by making a new engine, so this competition will be endless. However, I think that this competition have to change topic from faster engine to efficient engine.

Journal: What do you think that It is better for government to spend their funds on the exploration of outer space than on earthly matters?

As scientific technology advances, it is an old story that human can only live on earth. Even though some people argue that the government needs to spend its funds to explore the outer space, I strongly believe that the government should use the money to solve urgent problems including earthly matters. This is because the government should recognize that lots of poor people are dying everyday due to the famine, and it is more pressing to restore the environment that has been damaged by man-made behaviors.

First of all, people who live countries that have sterile soil or wartime for so long time are dying due to an extreme shortage of staples. Even worse, the lack of food leads to sickness or death. For example, a number of children who live in Africa have suffered from hunger and poverty, but the government cannot afford to help them and asks for aid from other countries. Think about the exploration of outer space that requires lots of money to be spent. Spending money that should be set aside for the children who are dying everyday due to famine and hunger is cruel and impersonal, as man is the lord of creation. The government that spends lots of money to explore outer space seems like studying for their interest, not for entire people. In this sense, the government should recognize urgent problems and spend more money to save the poor.

On top of that, global warming is an enormous issue nowadays. People often watch the news about the fundamental causes such as forest fires and greenhouse gases that come from industrial pollution. The temperature of the atmosphere has been rapidly increasing every year since the emission of heat-trapping gases is out of control, and many scientists have warned that such problems will increase. To prevent it from getting worse, restoring the damaged environment is keenly demanded. This is mainly due to the fact that clean air and water are indispensable for people as well as animals and plants. Despite of these problems that must be solved without delay, many countries are competing to explore outer space for their benefits while they ascribe the causes of global warming to other’s fault. In this respect, the government should spend their funds to restore environment first.

To sum up, I wholeheartedly believe that the government should focus on spending their funds to solve earthly matters first because there are many people who cannot get food and water due to shortage of staples in the world. Also, serious and urgent problems such as global warming have a vast influence on people and have to be solved step by step. After the environmental crisis is solved, we can use our resources to explore outer space.

I am going to introduce myself.

I came from Korea. My home country is a really beautiful and good place. The reason is that there are lots of places for culture and various delicious foods.

My major is an electrical engineering. It is a really interesting field for me, so I am studying and love this major. My final goal for studying is to go to graduate school in order to study about computer visioning. Also my hobby is both watching and playing a soccer.

The number of family is four.First, my father is an engineer about construct. He is little bit strict, but always gives a good advice for me. Second, my mother is a housewife. She always worries about my older brother and me. Last, my older brother is student for studying business and economy, and he is kind.
